Good riddance

It looks like controversial playboy Dan Bilzerian is no longer a GGPoker brand ambassador. He is missing from the brand ambassador page on GGPoker’s website, with numerous reports stating that Bilzerian was dropped on the same day as International Women’s Day.

unclear if the agreement came to a natural end or if GGPoker terminated the relationship

poker fuse reported that the social media personality’s image and name were present on the website on Monday, but not on Tuesday. The special Bilzerian emotes that players could use are also now missing. It is unclear if the agreement came to a natural end or if GGPoker terminated the relationship.

A tumultuous relationship

GGPoker launched in 2017 and has grown into one of the world’s largest poker sites. He has numerous brand ambassadors on board, including Daniel Negreanu, Jason Koon, and Fedor Holz. GGPoker originally joined forces with Bilzerian in December 2020, with Bilzerian causing plenty of controversy before and during his ambassadorship.

large portion of the poker community was not happy with the partnership

A large portion of the poker community was not happy with the signing, particularly because of Bilzerian’s treatment of women over the years. The ending of the relationship comes almost a year to the day after GGPoker terminated an affiliate deal with Vanessa Kade following her much-publicized dispute with Bilzerian.

Our very own David Lappin echoed the thoughts of many in the poker community after learning that Bilzerian is apparently no longer a GGPoker ambassador:

Despite being an ambassador for 15 months, Bilzerian didn’t put much effort into promoting the platform. Most notably, Bilzerian failed to honor his commitment to play a heads-up match with the winner of the $100,000 GGPoker Dan Bilzerian Birthday freeroll tournament in 2020. He was supposed to face science writer Alex O’Brien.

Improving female player outreach

While GGPoker stated that it had thousands of new signups following the signing of the partnership, it never shared any specific figures regarding the tangible impact of working with Bilzerian. After the backlash of signing Bilzerian, GGPoker committed to placing more of an emphasis on female player outreach.

Dan Bilzerian is a controversial character who has more than 32 million Instagram followers. He became popular for flaunting his gambling and womanizing lifestyle on social media.

The platform now has six female poker players on board as ambassadors. It also held a special female-focused tournament over the past few days to celebrate International Women’s Day, with guaranteed prize money of $50,000.
