NecroJack Wins Big With Huge 888poker XL Spring Weekend Looming

A lot of the poker community’s attention is fixed on the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas but there is an exciting poker tournament series happening right now in the online poker world: the 888poker XL Spring Series.

Three more of the series’ events crowned their champions on June 2 as the festival marches towards a thrilling conclusion. All three of the events completed on June 2 were six-handed progressive knockout tournaments that attracted solid crowds to the 888poker virtual felt. Here is how things went down.

XL Spring #27 – $25,000 PKO 6-Max ($109 buy-in)

the $25,000 PKO 6-Max event drew in a crowd of 124 players who were all outlasted by “NecroJack.” The final table was set when Malta’s “Its0kay” busted in seventh place. Its0kay has gone deep in several of the series’ tournaments and some may say is overdue a victory.

Sixth place and $1,286 went to “convlo” of the Ukraine, which was more than the $982 collected by “goat shooting” collected thanks to the bounty element of the tournament.

“Panxetilo” other “FoldyNorman” won almost identical prizes of $2,315 and $2,314 after their demise in fourth and third place, respectively. The elimination of Ireland’s FoldyNormal left NecroJack heads-up against “RX450h” in a battle for the largest bounty payment of the evening.

NecroJack defeated their final opponent and added a $2,965 bounty to their $2,866 main prize pool payout, meaning a total prize worth $5,832. The runner-up reeled in $4,282 for their efforts.

XL Spring #28 – $20,000 Mini PKO 6-Max ($55 buy-in)

Some 417 players bought into the XL Spring #28 – $20,000 Mini PKO 6-Max and fought it out for the largest slice of the $20,850 prize pool. All but two of the finalists earned themselves a four-figure sum. “callmebluff” other “Yzw42_” were cast aside in fifth and sixth place and won $973 and $688 respectively.

The surviving four players became three when “Snake131” was left without any chips to continue playing. Snake131 snatched a $1,096 payout. Three became two when “lavittotial88” vacated the tournament in third, a finish good for $1,656.

This left “leon_dies10” of Argentina against “Alboz83” of the United Kingdom. Either player would have made a worthy champion but the very nature of poker tournaments means there is only ever one winner. leon_dies10 was that winner and recipient of $4,051, which resigned the runner-up to a $2,477 consolation prize.

XL Spring #29 – $10,000 Late PKO 6-Max ($22 buy-in)

Canadian “DanielZgranu” left 614 opponents in their wake in the $10,000 Late PKO 6-Max event. First place in this tournament, with bounties taken into consideration, weighed in at $2,159, which is a solid return for a $22 investment.

DanielZgranu defeated Kazakhstan’s “BlueLag00n” heads up to clinch the title. BlueLag00n consoled themselves with $1,324, the tournament’s only other four-figure sum.

Upcoming XL Spring Series events

There are some massive XL Spring Series tournaments taking place over the weekend of June 3-5. Among the busy schedule are four Day 1s for the $250 buy-in $500,000 guaranteed XL Spring Series Main Event.

A handful of Day 1s have already concluded with 506 players having bought in and contributed $118,910 to the prize pool. However, the $500,000 guarantee seems quite some distance away, which could make this Main Event exceptional value.
