Paddy Power has rounded up the money raised during the World Darts Championship to £1 million ($1.27 million) after a record number of 180s were hit during the tournament.

The tournament sponsor and bookmaker had originally pledged to donate £1,000 ($1,269) to the Prostate Cancer UK charity for every 180 goals scored at the World Cup. When 28-year-old darts champion Luke Humphries beat 16-year-old Luke Littler in a thrilling final, the total was 914,000 pounds ($1.16 million).

Although it set a new record over last year’s hit 901 180s, Paddy Power decided to go one step further and round the figure up to £1 million.

Humphries said he would also donate some of his 500,000 pounds ($634,000) prize money to the charity

Humphries won the Ballon d’Art trophy for 73 180s and said he would also donate some of his 500,000 pounds ($634,000) prize money to the charity.

Laura Kerby, chief executive of Prostate Cancer UK, said they were “thrilled” when Paddy Power increased the total amount to £1 million.

Kerby added: “With every iconic ‘180’ call, we have made a huge difference to the men affected by this disease – and to their loved ones too.”

The occasion is particularly special for Humphries as his girlfriend’s father was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. Before his win, Humphries said that he would give the Ballon d’Art trophy to his girlfriend’s father if he won it.
