Earlier this week, Alex Foxen became the latest player to have his name scrubbed from the “Best Players Without a World Series of Poker Bracelet” list when he took down Event #50: $250,000 Super High Roller for a career-high score of $4,563,700.
Foxen, who now has $26.5 million in Hendon Mob-reported earningsfollowed the bracelet win with two deep runs in Online Event #6: $500 No Limit Hold’em Turbo Deepstack other Event #58: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better (8-Handed) to make him the latest PokerNews WSOP Player of the Week.

New Career Best
Despite not having a bracelet to his name until recently, Foxen has long been a crusher on the high roller circuit. In 2018, he finished second in the Super High Roller Bowl $300,000 No Limit Hold’em for $2.1 million, his biggest score until this week.
Foxen, a former football tight end for Boston College, won his first piece of WSOP hardware in 2011 when he took down a $355 buy-in event at WSOP Circuit Harrah’s New Orleans — the first circuit event he ever entered.
To win his first bracelet, Foxen had to navigate through a field of 56 entrants and a final table that included Phil Ivey, Adrian Mateos, Sam Soverel other Dan Zack. Foxen ultimately defeated high stakes regular BrandonSteven during heads-up play to win the coveted first bracelet and take home a new career cash.
“It really means a lot to me. It’s kind of been a monkey on the back. I’ve always wanted a bracelet. I’ve had some close spots and always been disappointed… this feels like a really special one to get my first in,” Foxen told PokerNews after the victory. “To me, what means the most is consistent performance at the highest stakes. This is one of those, so it feels really good.”
Foxen celebrated the win with his wife, three-time bracelet winner Kristen Foxenwho he recently tied the knot with down in the Florida Keys, as well as their pet dog.
“I’m extremely lucky I have an incredible wife and incredible support,” Foxen told PokerNews. “It’s something that can’t be overstated honestly, the amount it helps to have someone at home that to the utmost extent understands what I’m going through on a day-to-day basis and is there to talk hands all the time, and just to help me through the difficult times too, because. I’m definitely not immune to tilt and emotion. Having someone like Krissy, I can’t express how lucky I am.”
Foxen followed up the bracelet win with a deep run in Event #58: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better (8-Handed) that extended into Day 2, ultimately finishing in 33rd place for $7,161. Not long after, Foxen found a 189th-place finish in Online Event #6: $500 No Limit Hold’em Turbo Deepstack for $864, a modest prize compared to his seven-figure score earlier in the week.
In total, Foxen has cashed eight events for an impressive $4,772,506 so far this series to put him fifth on the Player of the Year leaderboard with 2,127.50 points. How has your summer been?

Leonard and Jørstad got through a field of 913 teams and ultimately defeated Jamie Kerstetter & Corey Paggeot during heads-up play to deny the beloved poker commentator her maiden bracelet.

Joao Simao: Earlier in the week, Brazil’s Joao Simao won his first bracelet and $686,242 in Event #53: $5,000 Mixed No-Limit Hold’em/Pot Limit Omaha after ordering Marius Gierse during heads-up play. The victory comes just weeks after Simao finished fourth in Event #21: $1,500 Monster Stack No-Limit Hold’em to earn a payday of $341,095.
