Racheal Kundananji is now the most expensive soccer player in the history of the sport after moving from Madrid CFF to Bay FC in a deal worth $860,000.

the first African player in women’s or men’s football to set a global transfer record

This amount is significantly higher than the previous highest amount of £400,000 ($501,706), which changed hands when England’s Keira Walsh moved from Manchester City to Barcelona in 2022. This makes the Zambian-born player the first African player in women’s or men’s football to set a global transfer record.

Bay FC is a new expansion team in the National Women’s Soccer League. The San Francisco Bay Area team will be competing for the first time when the new season begins on March 16th.

Bettors will be watching US sportsbooks closely as they release the odds for the competition to see where Bay FC will rank in the settlement. Other notable players set to sign for the new franchise include former Arsenal star Jen Beattie and Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala.

Kundananji quickly gained a good reputation. The 23-year-old scored 25 goals in 29 league games for Madrid CFF last season. She also played at the recent Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

More and more money and attention is flowing into women’s football. FIFA reported that total transfer fees reached $2.1 million last month, up 165% year-on-year.
